You don't have to go to the U.S. Postal Service anymore to ship items. New carriers and shipping options are springing up all over -- including in Connellsville.

Goin' Postal, a newly opened full postage and package processing center, is located in the Martin's shopping plaza, on Route 201.

"We offer UPS, DHL, Fed Ex, Priority, and Freight," said owner Terry Halfhill. "We can find carriers for anything."

Halfhill wanted to offer alternative shipping options to the community.

"There is not an alternative other than the post office in town. We want the public to understand what this is and what we do, and that they can come here and do everything that they do at the post office and more."

The store offers various shipping choices and also stocks items needed for shipping. The business will even pack and label items for its customers.

Extended hours make it easier to accommodate the busy lifestyles of the average resident.

"We are open one hour before and one hour after the post office," Halfhill stated, adding that the location is perfect for parking and easy accessibility.

"There's plenty of parking here and it's a great location. There's a 32,000-per-day traffic count and I think that it's definitely one of the best locations in town."

Goin' Postal is one of the 142 franchise stores nationwide. National director Larry Kottke was on hand to help with the set up and opening of the newest operation.

"It doesn't matter how large or how small your needs are, there is always a need for shipping," Kottke said,. "Even if it's not on a regular basis. Everyone at one time has to mail something, that's the beauty of a this particular type of business."

In addition to mailing and shipping, Goin' Postal is also offering eBay stings for international auction sites.

"Just bring in your items and we do everything else,"Halfhill stated. "Drop it off and come in the next week for your check."

All eBay items require a $9.95 listing fee, then Halfhill and staff take it from there.

"We do all the packaging and take the photos," Halfhill stated, adding that unsold items may be relisted at the request of the seller.

Halfhill promises one thing -- you won't have to wait in line at Goin' Postal.

"Presently we don't have any lines," Halfhill stated. "We want to get you in and out as quickly as possible."

Goin' Postal is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information, call 724-628-7171 or fax 724-628-7474.
